Description

Summary

The Heavy Equipment and Truck Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction and industrial machinery. This role requires the ability to operate commercial motor vehicles and technical expertise in engine systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical components. The mechanic is also responsible for performing preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of heavy equipment to identify mechanical issues
  • Use diagnostic tools to pinpoint malfunctions in engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical and braking systems
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs
  • Repair or replace defective parts and perform system overhauls
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Document maintenance and maintain service logs
  • Respond to field service calls and perform emergency repairs

Education and experience: High School Diploma or equivalent; Two years of technical auto or diesel mechanic training or equivalent experience. Must have valid drivers license (Class A preferred).

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
2 years diesel/mechanic training
Valid driver's license (Class A preferred)
Welding and torch cutting
Ability to operate commercial vehicles
Experience with heavy equipment
Ability to do simple math
Responsibilities
Inspect heavy equipment
Diagnose mechanical issues
Perform preventive maintenance
Repair engines and hydraulics
Troubleshoot electrical systems
Document maintenance and repairs
Respond to field service calls
