The Sylvan tutor creates a positive personal learning experience for students using prepared Sylvan program materials. The tutor evaluates student progress, communicates progress, and works with Center Staff to personalize learning.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepare for instructional sessions and materials
Greet and engage students
Instruct students using Sylvan programs
Manage students, tasks, and time
Evaluate and record student progress
Use praise and encouragement to motivate students
Motivate and track student tokens
Manage session conclusions and learning logs
Support student safety and well-being
Communicate student needs to Center Staff
Attend staff meetings and complete training
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Four-year degree preferred
State teaching credentials preferred
One to two years teaching experience preferred
Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of general office equipment
Tablet computer experience preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks
Strong problem-solving and customer-service skills
